The Vallejo Police Department participates in the White House Police Data Initiative

The Vallejo Police Department is proud to announce our participation in the White House Police Data Initiative.  This initiative is a derivative of the President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing, which can be viewed here:  http://www.cops.usdoj.gov/policingtaskforce.  Building Trust and Legitimacy is Pillar #1 of the task force’s final report, and one of the cornerstones of building trust and legitimacy is transparency.  Participating in the Police Data Initiative will allow the Vallejo Police Department to use data and technology to further strengthen community trust and impact.

The Public Safety Open Data Portal is intended to serve as a central clearinghouse for accessing, visualizing and analyzing local and national law enforcement and public safety open data-sets.  The portal currently contains select data-sets from agencies participating in the White House’s Police Data Initiative (PDI) as well as national data to provide context for the local data.  Citizens can learn more about the Police Data Initiative by visiting the Police Foundation’s Public Safety Open Data Portal here:  http://publicsafetydataportal.org/.

The Vallejo Police Department is proud of the strong connection we have to our community as a result of positive, collaborative relationships built on trust.  Our first data-set highlights the 2015 community engagement efforts of our Community Services and Code Enforcement Division, our Office of Community Engagement, and the department's senior leadership.  Our second data-set represents all of our calls for service in 2015.

We are currently developing other data-sets to be released in the near future.  Check back here for updates.
