Important public notice

POWER OUTAGE UPDATE - 10/9/19 - 5:00 PM

PG&E shut off power to the Green Valley Water Treatment Plant, however the situation is being managed well and water service continues to be provided to Vallejo, Travis, and Lakes Water System customers.

The Green Valley Water Treatment Plant is now using only raw water from lakes Madigan and Frey which are gravity-fed, and pumps and generators are not required. Water service within the City of Vallejo limits has not been impacted.

Staffing in Water Facilities and Distribution has shifted to 12 hour crews to allow for 24-hour coverage during PG&E's power shut-off event.

POWER OUTAGE UPDATE - 10/8/19 - 6:30 PM

The City of Vallejo Water Department is prepared for the PG&E Power Shut offs.

Currently PG&E has not indicated any shutoffs within city limits, but PG&E has warned of power outages scheduled in the Lakes Water System. If power outages should occur in the Lakes Water System the City is fully prepared with back up generators to address outages at City owned treatment and distribution facilities which includes pump stations and the Green Valley Water Treatment Plant. Steps have been taken to ensure that water storage facilities are filled to capacity.

As a reminder, any customer who has a privately owned booster pump would be impacted if their power goes out.

PG&E has not scheduled power outages within the city limits. However, if outages were to occur within the city limits, the City's raw water supply is ensured with back-up generators provided by the State Department of Water Resources. In addition, the Water Department has back-up power at Fleming Hill Treatment Plant, Travis Air Force Base Treatment Plant, and Shadow Ridge Tank (hydropneumatic fire flow).

Today staff re-confirmed that Solano County Office of Emergency Services is prepared to provide the Water Department two additional generators if needed. Agreements are also in place for the Water Department to have access to Vallejo Flood and Wastewater District’s generator if they do not need it, or to alternate use with VFWD as necessary. The Public Works Department’s emergency generator would be available if needed. The generators scheduled to address the planned outages in the Lakes Water System can also be deployed in the city limits if necessary.

  •  More information on power outages is available on PG&E's website.
  • During regular business hours, direct water related questions to (707) 648-4307.
  • For after hours emergencies only call (707) 553-7252.

Updated 10/8/19 - On September 10, 2019 the Vallejo City Council hosted a public hearing to consider implementing new proposed water rate increases.  Immediately following the public hearing, the Council unanimously approved an ordinance amending the Vallejo Municipal Code authorizing increased water rates effective 11/1/2019.  A second reading of the ordinance occurred on 9/24/2019 without comment and as a result the new rates will take effect on 11/1/2019.

Posted 7/11/2019 - The City partnered with SLWA Insurance Services in early 2019 to offer Vallejo homeowners warranty programs designed to assist with costly plumbing repairs.  The program is completely optional and homeowners will not be signed up or charged automatically.  There is no cost to the City of Vallejo and no public funds are used to promote or administer the program.  Click HERE for additional information.
