Well, last night was an exciting meeting at Dan Mini Elementary School - and a special thanks to the school and its principal, Heather Topacio, for hosting the event. The Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce sponsored the event, and Alma Hernandez did the presentation. We got lots of great ideas and look forward to holding a Project Expo at Dan Mini in September! The 2014 Budget Assemblies are halfway through...and we've had a great turnout so far, with more community members participating this year. Now you can submit your ideas online - or check on your idea you've already submitted through an assembly. Vallejo's first two Participatory Budgeting Assemblies are in the books, and we've gathered more than 100 ideas already from residents on how to spend $2.4 million to improve Vallejo! Cycle 2 of PB in Vallejo is off to a great start and we look forward to the next 8 assemblies over the coming weeks. Hello Vallejoans! I am one of three staff who started 2014 with a new job – helping to facilitate a successful second cycle of Participatory Budgeting!  Our team of three is also responsible for implementing the 12 projects selected through the first cycle of PB.  As we’ve talked to residents at the Farmers Market and other events and landmarks around town, we’ve heard from many about how PB has brought neighbors together, how the process raises up the voices of residents and how people care ... more»
